SPECIALTY SITES

Including:

  • blogs
  • galleries
  • music sites

Specialty sites require additional design and programming beyond what is done for one page sites. Blogs, in particular, require a lot of extra design work due to the large number of extra pages involved with designing a fully functional blog. This includes single post pages, taxonomy (muiti-post) pages, comment forms & pages, and more.

Galleries also require quite a bit of extra work, with slideshows and single image pages.

Lastly, music sites allow music streaming, playlists, integration with stores and more.

ONE PAGE SITES

One page sites are the perfect way to establish a light-weight presence on the web. Once loaded, they perform fabulously. They are highly configurable and adapt flawlessly for display on mobile devices. If the total weight of your page (text + images) is excessive, then it is better to break the site into multiple pages.

A one page site consists of the following components:

  • name
  • navigator
  • content
  • footer

The body is divided into a series of slices, identified by distinct background colors. Each slice may have optional overlays containing additional information pertaining to the slice. You are looking at an overlay right now. Overlays do not scroll and must be dismissed before proceeding to other slices.

By organizing your content into a small number of slices with overlays, you create a site which is easy to navigate through an extraordinary amount of information. Because the site background contains graphics, you can create sites which are text-heavy, light-weight, and very easy to use.
